  Early modern conception of mineral generation

  Today’s environmental discussion has revealed a need for new insights on a wide range of scientific domains. The EU-based SOUNDEPTH project will explore early modern conceptions of ore generation. Specifically, it will conduct an interdisciplinary study of natural philosophy, Earth sciences and human-environment interactions, significantly contributing to the history of science and environmental history, as well as the overall environmental debate. The project will combine in-depth analysis of the sources that influenced the early modern debate on mineral generation with the existing secondary literature along with the replication in the laboratory of significant alchemical and mineral processes and the comparative exploration of historical mining sites in Europe.
